Keep Heartburn Away By Using A Heartburn Diet

If you are suffering from heartburn, a heartburn diet is something that you should try to eliminate the pain and discomfort. Heartburn is a frightening condition because many people confuse it with a heart attack. There are millions of heartburn sufferers nowadays and they experience varying degrees of pain and discomfort. Some only experience the condition occasionally while others suffer from chronic heartburn. For occasional cases, some syrups and tables should be sufficient to alleviate the symptoms. For chronic heartburn where the condition happens twice or more a week, they should contact a doctor to get proper treatment.

Certain medications can solve the heartburn problem after a doctor performs thorough checkup. However, if you want to prevent the condition from happening again in the future, you should try a heartburn diet strategy. Basically a heartburn diet tells a person what kind of foods that they should exclude from their diet and foods that they should include in the diet. This is a good way to keep heartburn at bay without the necessity of taking medicines.

It is not difficult to follow a heartburn diet

A heartburn diet will focus on foods that are nutritious, but they should not produce heartburn. Fruits like apples and bananas are good to be included. Some vegetables are essential to add important nutrition so they have to be chosen carefully into the diet. Broccoli, cabbage, and carrots are good additions in this case. A heartburn diet does not mean avoiding meat completely. Chicken and extra lean beef can be included. Even some types of cheese, like feta cheese and soy cheese, can become a part of a heartburn diet.

On the other hand, there are some foods that should be avoided from the diet. In general, these foods contain a lot of acid that will make the heartburn condition worse. Tomatoes and oranges should be excluded from your heartburn diet. Other foods that can produce heartburn and should be avoided are mashed potatoes, french fries, and raw onions. Furthermore, people with heartburn should stay away from alcoholic beverages and caffeine. Sour cream, ice cream, and cottage cheese have been reported to cause heartburn and should be excluded from the heartburn diet. Lastly you should not eat chocolate, donuts, and other creamy desserts as they are well known to produce heartburn. By staying diligent and focus on your diet, you will be able to stay free from heartburn.
